FAQ

How fresh are your blackworms?

Always check the availability calendar and choose your delivery date.

Please do not order unless the site shows worms are available for delivery as disappointment is not fun.

We aim to get your blackworms delivered from the beach to your door within 24h and use Royal Mail Guaranteed Next Day 4pm Delivery Tracked for full peace of mind.

All items are specially packed and marked to ensure your bait arrives as fresh as possible.

How big are the blackworms?

Blackworm sizes can vary depending on the time of year, the size of tides and of course the weather plays a big part in what Mother Nature allows us to take from the beach.  On average our blackworms are between 6 and 8 inches but can often exceed 12 inches.

Do you always have bait?

The amount of both fresh and frozen blackworms are very much dependant on tides, weather and seasons so variations in our stock unfortunately affect us, especially in the winter months.

We recommend ordering as early as possible and for your peace of mind we only take payment once we have shipped your order.

Can I collect bait direct from you

If you are coming over to the Fylde Coast and need some worms then we are happy to save you delivery charges and supply direct.  Please note there is a minimum order of 50 worms. Should you wish to collect please ensure you put your contact number within the notes on the order page so we can arrange everything with you.

For traders and bulk orders we can either use delivery or arrange a drop off point, subject to distance.

Do you provide other baits?

We only provide fresh and frozen Blackworms and this focus allows us to concentrate on providing you with the best quality bait around.

Is it Next Day Delivery?

We ask that you provide us with at least 3 days notice for all orders.

If we have excess fresh blackworms in stock we will advertise these for Next Day delivery on our Facebook page for a short period of time.

Whilst we can never guarantee third party services, Royal Mail currently deliver nearly 99% of parcels by 4pm using this service.  Should your parcel arrive after 4pm then we will refund you all delivery charges.

What is the best way to store blackworms

Blackworms should be stored at a low temperature, ideally in the bottom of a fridge and can often last longer when stood upright rather than horizontally.  Keep them tightly sealed in a carrier bag and they can last for up to a week.

If you wish to freeze any of your worm down then we recommend the blanching method where you (carefully) scald the worms for 20 seconds then dry them before wrapping in newspaper.

How are your frozen baits delivered

For bulk orders of frozen worm we offer specialist delivery through a frozen courier service to ensure that the order is kept frozen during transit with the addition of ice bottles.

All worm has been blanched and fully dried before freezing to ensure the best quality frozen worms.

Why can't I place an order?

The amount of blackworms we are able to provide varies due to tides, weather and seasons.  We also take forward orders on a regular basis and these are prioritised operating on a first come first served basis.

If we feel we are close to capacity then we may temporarily suspend accepting new orders.  We strongly recommend that you place an advanced order whenever possible to avoid disappointment.

What if my order is cancelled?

We only accept orders when we are confident we can supply so it is rare that orders have to be cancelled unless a date has been requested that is not available on the availability calendar.

In the unlikely event that your order is cancelled we will contact you to advise how many worms we can provide and give you the option of amending your order.

As we do not take payment until your order has been shipped this saves any refund costs.

What if my order is late

Unfortunately we cannot control what happens once your order has been shipped but use Royal Mail Special Delivery before 4pm which offers a success delivery rate of 98% (https://www.asa.org.uk/rulings/royal-mail-group-ltd-a17-401714.html).

Your order is tracked through our system and we are happy to provide you with updates as and when needed.  Should your order not arrive before 4pm then your delivery costs will be refunded.

If the order is lost or damaged in transport then we will use our best efforts to reclaim all costs back from Royal Mail.
